Please use this document as a resource to troubleshoot your Blue Series 2-1 Switch using the SmartThings platform. The easiest way to find your issue is to look at the Table of Contents located on the right side of the screen (on desktop) or via the drop-down at the top (on mobile).

Flickering Lights

Please scroll to the section that best describes your flickering issue.

Lights Flicker at a Low Dim Level Only

If your lights are flickering at a low dim level only, the easiest way to fix this is to set a minimum dim level just above where you notice your lights flickering.

For example, if you notice your lights start flickering when you dim your Blue Series 2-1 to around 20%, you would set a Minimum Dim Level (Parameter 9) to 21 (ie: 21%).

To do this using SmartThings, please follow the directions below:

  • Open up your SmartThings app and click on Devices at the bottom

  • Find your Inovelli Blue Series 2-1 Switch and click on it

  • Then click on the three dots at the top right and select, "Settings"

  • Scroll down to where it says, "9. Minimum Level" and click on it

  • Enter in the value you'd like the new minimum level to be on your switch (ie: if you notice your bulbs start to flicker around 20%, then set the minimum level to 21)

  • Click, "Save" and then exit out of settings by clicking the back arrow at the top

Once you set the minimum dim level, that level will become the switches new 1% and it will scale itself accordingly. You may have to turn the switch off and then back on for it to take effect.

Lights Flicker at a High Dim Level Only

If your lights are flickering at a high dim level only, the easiest way to fix this is to set a maximum dim level just below where you notice your lights flickering.

For example, if you notice your lights start flickering when you dim your Blue Series 2-1 to around 90%, you would set a Maximum Dim Level (Parameter 10) to 89 (ie: 89%).

To do this using SmartThings, please follow the directions below:

  • Open up your SmartThings app and click on Devices at the bottom

  • Find your Inovelli Blue Series 2-1 Switch and click on it

  • Then click on the three dots at the top right and select, "Settings"

  • Scroll down to where it says, "10. Maximum Level" and click on it

  • Enter in the value you'd like the new maximum level to be on your switch (ie: if you notice your bulbs start to flicker around 90%, then set the maximum level to 89)

  • Click, "Save" and then exit out of settings by clicking the back arrow at the top

Once you set the maximum dim level, that level will become the switches new 100% and it will scale itself accordingly. You may have to turn the switch off and then back on for it to take effect.

Lights Constantly Flicker (Strobe)

If your lights are constantly flickering or strobing (this is a strong flicker/strobe, not a subtle one), then there may be either an issue with the bulb itself (ie: it's not compatible) or you're using a dumb/existing switch and the smart switch is having an issue detecting it properly, which is causing the flickering/strobing.

To fix the constant flicker or strobe, let's try the following steps:

  • Ensure you have the Blue Series 2-1 Switch Inovelli Edge Driver installed

  • Open up your SmartThings app and click on Devices at the bottom

  • Find your Inovelli Blue Series 2-1 Switch and click on it

  • Then click on the three dots at the top right and select, "Settings"

  • Scroll down to where it says, "10. Maximum Level" and click on it

  • Enter in a value of 80

  • Click, "Save" and then exit out of settings by clicking the back arrow at the top

If the switch is still flickering, try turning on/off the switch manually or pull out the air-gap (located at the bottom left of the switch) and push it back in. If you continue to experience flickering, please reach out to us for further troubleshooting.
