Overview
In the world of Z-Wave, there are a few different scenarios you may find yourself in when it comes to removing, excluding, or factory resetting your switch. Below we will explain the differences and when each should be used.
Removing Your Switch - If your device is currently paired to SmartThings and you'd like to remove it from your hub, please use this option.
Excluding Your Switch - If your device was connected to another hub and it was not removed properly from that hub or you are having issues pairing/including your switch to SmartThings, please use this option.
Factory Resetting Your Switch - If all else fails, you do not have access to your SmartThings hub, or you need to quickly reset your switch, please use this option.
Removing Your Switch
Removing your switch from SmartThings can be done by following these directions. Remember, use this method if your device is currently paired to SmartThings and you'd like to remove it from your hub.
Click on the, "Devices" tab at the bottom of your SmartThings App
Search for the device you want to remove and then hold down on it until a pop-up appears - click, "Remove"
Click on, "Remove" to confirm
You will be taken to a screen that shows your hub is actively in the exclusion (removal) mode - at this time, press the config button (top right button) on your switch three (3) times (the LED Bar should start to pulse blue and then flash green if successful)
If successful, your app will let you know that a device has been removed -- you can click, "Done" and your device will no longer be shown in the SmartThings app
Excluding Your Switch
Excluding your switch from SmartThings can be done by following these directions. Remember, use this method if your device was connected to another hub and it was not removed properly from that hub or you are having issues pairing/including your switch to SmartThings.

Search for your SmartThings hub and click on it
Click on the three dots at the top right, followed by, "Settings"
Click on, "Z-Wave Utilities"
Click on, "Z-Wave exclusion"
You will be taken to a screen that shows your hub is actively in the exclusion (removal) mode - at this time, press the config button (top right button) on your switch three (3) times (the LED Bar should start to pulse blue and then flash green if successful)
If successful, your app will let you know that a device has been removed -- you can click, "Done" and your device will no longer be shown in the SmartThings app
Factory Resetting Your Switch

To factory reset your Red Series 2-1 Switch (VZW31-SN), hold down on the top of the paddle and the config / favorites button for 20 seconds until the LED Bar turns red and let go.
