Button Combinations

The Red Series Fan/Light Switch has many different button combinations that indicate what the switch is doing or what settings and parameters are being changed.

Standard Button Combinations are used to either pair/remove your switch, check Z-Wave strength, or factory reset your switch

Local Configuration is a more complex way of changing additional parameters outside of the Quick Tap Sequences.

Standard Button Combinations

Standard Button Combinations for your Red Series Fan/Light Switch are used to either pair/remove your switch, check Z-Wave strength, or factory reset your switch.

To see the table, click here: Standard Button Combination Table

Pairing & Removing

To pair your Red Series Fan/Light switch, put your hub in pairing mode and tap the configuration (favorites) button 3x and your LED Bar will start pulsing blue - if successful, the LED Bar will then flash green (if unsuccessful, it will flash red).

Checking Z-Wave Strength

To check the strength of your Z-Wave network where your Red Series Fan/Light switch is at, hold down on the configuration (favorites) button for 5-10 seconds until the LED Bar turns green. Release the configuration button when the LED Bar turns green and the color of the LED Bar will be the strength of your network: green equals good, yellow equals ok, and red equals poor.

Factory Reset

To factory reset your Red Series Fan/Light switch, hold down on the top of the paddle (on button) along with the configuration (favorites) button for approximately 20 seconds until the LED Bar turns red and then release.

Local Configuration

To access additional parameters outside of the Quick Tap Sequences, you'll want to use Local Configuration.

To see the Local Configuration Table, click here: Local Configuration Table

Local Configuration Logic

Here is the logic to change the parameters locally:

  • Locate the Parameter you'd like to change on the Local Configuration Table (ex: Change LED Color = 3)

  • ENTERING LOCAL CONFIGURATION MODE: Hold down the configuration button until the LED Bar turns Yellow and let go

  • ENTERING THE PARAMETER MENU: Press the configuration button as many times as the parameter you've chosen says to from the Local Configuration Table (ex: Change LED Color is 3, so you'd press the configuration button 8x) - you have now selected the parameter you'd like to edit

    • NOTE: The LED Bar will blink to notify you of the parameter you're on - each blink equals the number parameter (ie: 2 blinks - parameter 2)

  • EDITING THE PARAMETER: Tap up/down on the paddle to select the value you'd like the parameter to be - you should see the parameter change in realtime (ie: LED Bar Color will change for you to see, LED Bar Intensity will change on the LED Bar for you to see, etc)

  • SAVING THE PARAMETER VALUE: Hold down on the configuration button until the LED Bar turns Yellow and let go - the LED Bar should then flash Cyan which indicates it was saved successfully

Example: If you'd like to change the color of your Red Series Fan/Light switch LED Bar you would hold down on the configuration button until the LED Bar turns Yellow and let go. The LED Bar will blink Yellow 1x to indicate it's in Local Configuration Mode. Using the Local Configuration Table, you will see that to access the LED Bar Color, you would tap the configuration button 3x. After you tap the configuration button 3x, the LED Bar will blink 3x to indicate it's on the correct parameter. Next, you will tap the paddle up or down to select the LED Bar color you want. Finally, to save the configuration, you will hold down on the configuration button until the LED Bar turns Yellow and let go. It will blink Cyan to confirm.

Local Configuration Table

Here's how you read this chart:

  • Look for the parameter you'd like to change

  • Write down or memorize the number associated with that parameter (ie: 8 for, "LED Indicator Intensity (When On)")

  • Look at the Values and determine what you'd like to change the parameter to (ie: if you want the dimming speed to take 3 seconds to turn on/off, you'd write down or memorize a value of 3)

  • Also make note as to whether it is a fan or light parameter - if it is a fan parameter, you will use the fan configuration rocker (D) whereas if it is a light parameter, you will use the light configuration rocker (A).

Example: Let's say you wanted to change the Fan's LED Bar to a color of orange. You would see that #6 is, "LED Indicator Color - Fan" and that it is a fan parameter so you'd use the fan rocker (D). Then the Value column says that Orange is an option and the instructions say to tap up/down the paddle until you find Orange. An example is shown below in the, "Video Demonstration".
