This guide walks you through configuring your mmWave switch, including presence detection zones, responsiveness, and energy-saving behaviors. Each setting corresponds to a configuration parameter you can adjust in your smart home hub.
Basic Configuration
1. Setting Detection Ranges
Define the 3D presence detection area by adjusting the mmWave sensor’s spatial boundaries.
Note: All directions are from the perspective of the switch looking outward into the room.
Parameter | Axis | Description | Default | Range (mm) |
101 | Z-Axis ↓ | Minimum height (floor boundary) | -300 | -600 to 600 |
102 | Z-Axis ↑ | Maximum height (ceiling boundary) | 300 | -600 to 600 |
103 | X-Axis ← | Minimum width (left boundary) | -600 | -600 to 600 |
104 | X-Axis → | Maximum width (right boundary) | 600 | -600 to 600 |
105 | Y-Axis ⬅ | Minimum depth (closest detection) | 0 | 0 to 600 |
106 | Y-Axis ➡ | Maximum depth (farthest detection) | 600 | 0 to 600 |
Tip: If presence is being detected too close to a wall, hallway, or furniture, reduce the corresponding axis range.
2. Set Sensitivity
Parameter 112 – mmWave Detection Sensitivity
Adjust how sensitive the sensor is to presence:0
: Low – Ignores subtle presence1
: Medium – Balanced sensitivity2
: High (default) – Detects even slight presence (ideal for continuous occupancy)
3. Change the Target Speed
Parameter 113 – mmWave Detection Delay
Controls how quickly the sensor responds after detecting presence:0
: Low (5s delay)1
: Medium (1s delay)2
: Fast (0.2s) (default)
Use this to prevent overly fast triggering or tune responsiveness based on how the room is used.
4. Change the Detection Timeout
Parameter 114 – mmWave Time Out
Sets how long the load remains on after presence is no longer detected.Default: 10 seconds
Range: 0 to 4,294,967,295 seconds
Advanced Configuration
After-Hours Load Suppression
Parameter 109
Use this to reduce or disable presence-based activation during specific hours (e.g., at night while sleeping).
Example:
If you want to prevent lights from turning on between 11 PM and 6 AM, use this setting with a time-based automation in your hub.
Other Notable Parameters
Parameter 110 – Light On Presence Behavior
Defines how the switch should behave in response to presence:
Option | Behavior |
| Disabled – Presence does not control the load |
| Auto On/Off when Occupied (default) |
| Auto Off when Vacant |
| Auto On when Occupied |
| Auto On/Off when Vacant |
| Auto On when Vacant |
| Auto Off when Occupied |
Suggestion: Start with 1
for typical occupancy-based lighting. Try other modes to suit your environment.
Parameter 111 – Interference Area Configuration
Use this setting to eliminate false presence detection caused by fans, curtains, or similar repetitive motion.
To Set an Interference Area:
Make sure the interfering object (e.g., ceiling fan) is running.
Leave the room so no actual presence is detected.
In your hub, select the option labeled “Set Interference Area.”
The calibration will complete almost instantly.
Now, when that object is in motion, it will be ignored by the sensor.
Option | Command |
| Set Interference Area |
| Clear Interference Area |
| Factory Reset mmWave Module |
You can use this feature alongside range settings (101–106) for best results.
Parameter 117 – Room Size Preset
Use this to apply predefined presence zones quickly:
Option | Room Size |
| Custom (User-defined) (default) |
| Small |
| Medium |
| Large |
Tip: Start with a preset, then fine-tune using the range parameters for precise control.
Tips for Use
Start simple: Use presets first, then customize as needed.
Use automations: Adjust presence behavior for different times of day.
Tame interference: Use Parameter 111 to eliminate false presence triggers.
Iterate & test: Observe how the switch behaves in real-world conditions and refine ranges.
