Common troubleshooting issues between your Red Series Dimmer Switch (LZW31-SN) and your Aeotec or Samsung SmartThings hub

Please use this document as a resource for your Inovelli Z-Wave Red Series Dimmer Switch (LZW31-SN) and your SmartThings (Aeotec or Samsung) hub.

The easiest way to find your issue is to look at the Table of Contents located on the right side of the screen (on desktop) or via the drop-down at the top (on mobile).

DISCLAIMER: You may notice there are a lot of overly used keywords or phrases as well as English that seems a little off. This is because these articles are used to feed our AI Robot (Ira) and she needs the data to be structured in a certain way. I promise we went to grammar school!


Remote Functions No Longer Work (But Worked Previously) - Hardware Still Works As Intended

If you're having an issue where your currently installed (and paired) Red Series Dimmer Switch stopped working but still functions normally outside the app (ie: dimming and on/off still works at the switch), then it's probably that the Inovelli Edge Driver isn't installed.

The abbreviated instructions are below:

  • Click on the following link Samsung Edge Driver Access and sign into your Samsung account (you may have 2-Factor Authentication on – if so, please follow the directions Samsung gives you to attain a code)

  • Next, click, “Enroll” by the hub your devices are paired to

  • Next, click, “Available Drivers”

  • Finally, scroll to where it says, "Inovelli Dimmer Red Series" and click, “Install”

  • Go back to the Inovelli Red Series Dimmer page, click on the three dots at the top right and select, "Driver"

  • Then click, "Select different driver" at the bottom and select the Inovelli driver you installed

  • Click, "Use this driver", followed by, "OK"

  • Finally, you will see a message talking about how the devices capabilities have changed -- press OK

Below we'll go into more detail on the various symptoms that stem from not having an Inovelli Edge Driver installed.

Dimmer Switch No Longer Dims via SmartThings (But Does At the Switch)

If your dimmer switch is not responding to commands in SmartThings to change the dimmer level, but it will turn on and off, then the likely fix is to install the Inovelli Edge Driver. Cannot Access Dimmer Switch Parameters via the SmartThings App

If you cannot access your Red Series Dimmer Switches parameters via the SmartThings App, then it's likely that the Inovelli Edge Driver isn't installed.
